Our RYA Training Centre Powerboat Courses - Call 0800 0786 176.
From the outset, we have attempted to develop our powerboat training courses to be the best.
To achieve this, we train, re-train and continually assess our own instructors. We analyse the comments and experiences continuously improve our course content and delivery. We invest in the very best boats – our Arctic Blues really are magnificent and we have created a purpose designed training centre based at Rossiters Quay, Christchurch.
Of course, we already have an unfair advantage in that we are based in what we believe is the finest boating location anywhere in the UK. Christchurch is blessed with two navigable rivers, a stunning harbour and direct access to the sea with the Solent on the left and the Jurassic coast on the right. This unique combination allows us to design our courses to cover every handling requirement from narrow channels with currents, winding channels through large open waters and open sea with sheltered bays and guaranteed rough water around headlands when required.
If you are going to learn how to handle a boat, then why not do it with the very best combination of instructors, boats and location? We look forward to welcoming you at Rossiters Quay, Christchurch.
Shorebased training with Saltwater Experience
On our practical course you can learn all the handling techniques you will ever need. On our shore based courses, you can gain the certifications you need to use your radio(s) and the skills you need to keep your boat and crew operational.
We have created an up-to-date, comfortable shore based training centre equipped with the latest presentation equipment and training aids. The centre also sports a comfortable relaxation area serving good quality tea and coffee and we are adding a deck for good measure to soak up the sun from it south facing aspect whenever it shines (and here, in Christchurch, it shines more than in most places in the UK).

Diesel Engine course options
The RYA diesel course - £89.00
A one day course designed to give attendees an understanding of basic diesel maintenance and trouble shooting.
Our Instructor, Lloyd James has been lecturing and instructing in all things petrol and diesel for over twenty years and he has spotted that what many people want instead of a generalised diesel maintenance course is the option to have a dedicated one to one session aboard their own boat learning how to cope with engine failure underway and general maintenance of their own particular power plant, petrol or diesel, installations.
For this reason, as well as running regular RYA diesel maintenance course we are offering half day one-to-one sessions aboard peoples own boats.
RYA VHF Course - £89
What you need to get a valid operators license and all you need to know to operate a VHF safely at sea.

Richard: "A hugely enjoyable and stimulating course which I would thoroughly recommend to anybody. I now feel much more confident in both boat handling and navigation. Thanks David!"
Graeme: "Not having much experience with boats before, it was surprising to find out what a difference a really experienced instructor and a proper boat makes! This may sound obvious but the boat David uses is great. Much better than any other training school I looked at and I know when I start taking boats out on my own the experience I gained will be a huge comfort. It was just fun to be out on a boat with someone that knows what they´re doing and obviously loves it! Thanks David, you were very patient and I would recommend you guys to everyone who wants to go out and have some fun on a boat …"
